?? ADOPT SAILOR ?? Location: Oklahoma Our sweet Sailor boy is in need of a foster-to-adopt home! Sailor is a 6 month old Aussie mix who was found as a stray in the middle of nowhere by an Amazon driver. At only 4lbs he sat at the local shelter waiting for his family to come for him, which they never did. After arriving into our care we realized Sailor was not deaf and blind like the shelter had thought, but there was something neurologically going on. Three hours after arriving into my care (likely triggered by the stress of a 1hour car drive after 5 days in the shelter) he had a seizure that lasted around 2 minutes. He quickly recovered and we had him at the vet the following day. They asked us to monitor him for more as he was too young to diagnose with epilepsy. A month later he has a few more, so we rushed him into the vet for another check up. We have processed bloodwork, performed an ultrasound, and went forward with a spinal tap. Our vets were not able to locate any under-lying diseases or other issues that could be causing these seizure. He has been on Keppra consistently for three months and has only had one seizure on the medication. This was after leaving his foster home and going to a temp foster for a few days. Change seems to trigger these seizures, which is why we would love for him to go to a foster to adopt soon. In Feb we plan to have an MRI performed as a final step in his treatment plan. We want to ensure we cover all basis, so his forever family can take the best course of action going forward. Sailor would do best in a home with other dogs how are medium energy. He would likely do well with cats! He is SUCH a sweet boy! He’s working on potty training and will need a patient family to help him continue to learn. He loves to play with toys and zoom around.
