My Story

Sampson is an approximately 2-year-old boxer mix who was found in Greensboro with a broken back leg. He underwent surgery to repair the leg and underwent surgery to remove the surgical pins. Post-surgery Sampson is able to jump again and is an active and playful dog. He does well with other dogs but will need to be introduced slowly with leash walking. He shows interest in children but hasn’t been fostered with any so we would recommend he meet any children slowly. Due to his exuberance, he would likely be better paired with a larger dog and older children or as a single dog. He is working on not jumping to greet but he’s just so excited to meet a new friend! Sampson is a happy dog who loves to play with toys and likes to play fetch (he mostly returns with the ball). Sampson is house trained but does not like to be left in the crate and can break out of most crates. He also displays some separation anxiety but does better when given treat-filled kongs to play with prior to being left alone. Sampson is very active and enjoys going to the brewery. Sampson is treat-motivated and loves to show off his “sit.” He is working on more advanced commands and would benefit from additional leash and recall training. Due to Sampson’s past injuries, he might not be able to do endurance activities and we would recommend checking with a vet if you’re looking for a running buddy. Sampson does well in cars and readily jumps in and out of them now that his leg has healed.
