Shelby-Adopted

Update 7/16/09: Shelby gets along with every cat and dog, she's playful and cuddly. A little separation anxiety (she's not destructive, just barks a lot) is subdued if she is given a large rawhide bone or a kong filled with frozen goodies. She loves to stay close to her foster mom, but she also loves to romp in the yard. She's obedient, yet has just enough impishness in her to make her that much more lovable!

Update 6/27/09: Adorable little Shelby has been in a foster home with Almost Home Rescue in Maine for a few days now. Shelby is clever and very well trained, and she'll even show off some tricks for people who come to visit. She walks like a lady on her leash and responds well to verbal commands. She's a rare gem of a rescue dog who doesn't need to be whisked off immediately to canine school!

This AKC registered miniature Schnauzer celebrated her sixth birthday yesterday, which means she has many years of energetic, playful life still ahead of her. Shelby loves to shadow her foster mom everywhere they go, and at night she likes to curl up in a small Schnauzer ball to sleep at her foster mom's feet.

She's happy to play fetch, or to pounce and bounce with other dogs, even ones larger than she. She lives with two cats in her foster home, and has done great with them.

Shelby's foster mom thinks Shelby would thrive a quiet, consistent home. She'd love to find a place where she can relax and be her loving doggie self. Shelby isn't too sure about toddlers, and the happy chaos they create might be too much for her. She'd probably be fine with dog-savvier older children.

Shelby is housetrained, spayed, and up to date on all vaccines. She hopes her forever family finds her soon!
