SHIMMER

Shimmer arrived at NYCACC - The New York City Animal Care Centers- The city's municipal shelter as an owner surrender in February. They adopted her from the very shelter that they were surrendering, but due to landlord issues, she had to go. They said glowing things about her and they were right. A amazing woman stepped stepped up to save her life. At the shelter they described her as social, wiggly and friendly. Shimmer's' STATS: Approximate age: 3 years Approximate weight: 64 lbs Breed(s) Pit Mix Spayed or neutered?: Spayed Good with: As per her previous owener Strangers?: Yes Other dogs?: Yes but has resource guarding over her food. Cats? NA On leash? Good Crate trained? Yes Housebroken? Yes Shimmer is so sweet. She loves her humans and other dogs. When she's happy it looks like she has a giant grin on her face. She listens to commands well, and loves treats. Her favorite game is tug of war, but will happily occupy herself or play with another dog. She's just happy if you're in the same room as her, and beyond happy to get snuggles and scratches. She behaves really well, and is very tolerant of most things including bathing. When she gets excited, it looks like she's smiling. She loves balls that squeak, she will happily sit and squeak away for ages. Whenever she sits or lies down, she crosses her back legs. The perfect home for her would be someone/a family with dog experience, hopefully with another calm dog. She loves to play with both her humans and other dogs, but is also fine lounging around on a dog bed or in her crate. Shimmer is a very heavy chewer, so no stuffed toys unless you don't mind her destroying them. Shimmer is very protective over food, toys, and her crate but is responding positively to training.
