My Story

Do you hear those sirens? Someone must have rung the alarm because the cutest gal Siren is looking for her forever home! Siren showed up at the shelter with 2 other dogs, presumably her puppies, when they were left at an abandoned house. Their owner was contacted and reclaimed all 3 of the dogs, but unfortunately they were all found as strays again 3 months later with no sign of the owner. Siren has shown us she's a super wiggly and sweet girl since getting to the shelter. One of the 3 dogs was adopted, but Siren and Tortellini are both still looking for their forevers! Siren is available for adoption at ACCT Philly. You can meet her any day from 10am-6pm. She was easily leashed and peed and pooped as soon as we stepped onto the grass outside. She delicately hopped into my SUV and sat politely in the A/C enjoying pets with my 15 year old the entire 30 minute drive to PennyPack. On the side of the trail she again used the bathroom perfectly. She enjoyed walking along the shaded dirt path and stopped often for water as it was very hot outside. Siren was not bothered by other dogs or bicyclists or people walking. She did mind my daughter walking too far from her. She is a good mom and looks after all children in her care. After our walk we took Siten to Starbucks. She enjoyed a Puppacino and her water in the shade. Again she was a bit concerned when my daughter went inside and we waited outside. She loves her kids! She let me hold her cup and ate very politely. She is a little lady always! On the way back we dropped off my daughter and Siren cried for a minute then let me pet her. She's SO good in the car and sat very nicely in the back seat clipped to my dog seat belt. Back at ACCT she seemed intimidated by the other dogs on the way to her kennel. When I left her she was sitting on her bed patiently waiting for her family to come. Per Volunteer 7/31/24: Super good for leashing, very calm and patient. We also had to wait in a corner while animal control brought another dog in and she was patiently sitting next to me. She looks like she's had puppies many times before. She showed me sit and takes treats soo nicely. At first she wasn't very affectionate and didn't approach me too much. After a few minutes she got very loose and wiggly and did a few zooms, took pets all over. Super sweet gal, treat motivated. She liked just hanging with me and sniffing around Per Staff 7/16/24: BEHAVIOR EVALUATION: KENNEL PRESENTATION: Siren came to the door with soft eyes and a low tail. She was patient for leashing and came right out once secured. When returning she hopped into kennel with no issue. LEASH SKILLS: Pulls minimally HANDLING: As soon as we got to the office Siren was loose, wiggly, and bouncy. She mouthed at toys but did not pick up any, and she perked up at squeakers. She took treats a tad snatchy but didn't put her teeth on me. She sat nicely for treats and showed me she knows "sit! She allowed all handling with no issues and a wagging tail. She was a happy, bouncy girl throughout our time. Siren showed no signs of resource guarding and allowed me to touch her and put my hands near a pile of treats she was eating. She is very treat motivated though, and will snap into a sit or run over if she hears a treat bag move. PLAY: Engages in play, high energy and bouncy. TOYS: Like squeaky toys, started picking up all the toys in the room. Per Staff 7/14/24: Assumed daughter (tortellini) has extreme attachment issues from assumable mother (siren). Siren seemed moderately stressed with Tortellini not being in the room during exam. Tortellini could not remain calm outside while the shut door was separating them.
