When we rescued Smokey from the local kill shelter she was in pretty bad shape. One ear was so badly infected she wouldn't let you touch anywhere near it. We had to take her to the vet and drug her in order to able to clean and treat it. Smokey's ear is now fine. She is between 1 & 2 years old and weighs in at 37lbs. This cutie has the hair of a Wheaton, but the legs of a Bassett. (Fits the profile of a Grand Basset Griffon Vendeen, but not a choice on this site.) She's really quite a funny girl. She is very playful; her favorite toy is a soccer ball with a rope through it. So if you need some soccer practice she will gladly volunteer. She also loves to fetch & will bring it back to you. Smokey is protective of her yard and people, but warms up once she gets to know newcomers (especially if they play tug of war) Smokey is ready to play and for her own home. She is unbelievably smart & wants to please. Will go in her crate without a complaint & wait quietly there for you to be ready for her to entertain you & show her appreciation.
