My Story

Meet Sparkie, a little Chihuahua X with a big personality. Sparkie has had a rough start to life. He was passed around to several different homes before he was surrendered to VPAS at 4 months of age with canine parvovirus. He spent 10 days in the veterinary hospital fighting this potentially fatal disease, and of course winning over the hearts of the vet staff. Since leaving the hospital Sparkie has been in a foster home gaining back some of his strength and weight. He has also been learning some basic manners (things like how to walk nicely on a leash, how to sit, and how to use his crate.) House training is still a work in progress - he was allowed to urinate on pee pads in the house before he was surrendered to VPAS. Sparkie is best suited for a home with a playmate. His favourite thing to do is to play with the cat at his foster home. They like to wrestle, chase, and play keep-away with the cat toys. Sparkie is not as interested in the big dog in his foster home, and on his walks he often chooses to greet people instead of any dogs they might be walking. He seems to be mostly indifferent to other dogs, and is more drawn to children and cats. Sparkie is neutered, up to date with vaccines, and has received flea and worm control. If you would like more information about Sparkie you can e-mail the dog adoption coordinator at [email protected]. He is currently in a foster home.
