STAR

STAR is an elegant Standard Poodle and Borzoi mixed girl. She has a downy white coat with golden cream markings and expressive deep brown eyes. She is an unusual doodle mix and because of that we have confirmed her heritage with a DNA test that confirms her 50% Standard Poodle and 50% Borzoi lineage. She has a doodle look yet a definite Borzoi gate and distinctive tail curl. She is devoted and gentle and shares the best traits of her mixed breed heritage. She is highly intelligent, gentle yet athletic and sometimes shy. She is about 28 inches at the withers and 25 inches from her collar to tail base. She is about 65 pounds. She is approximately 4 and half years old. STAR would do well in a home with children and other dog friendly cats and easy going dogs. She is extremely loving. She loves children but we have found over years of doing rescue that children under 6 are not a good match with medium to large sized breeds because of the distinct possibility of being accidently jumped on or knocked over. Please take this into consideration. STAR has wonderful rescue playmates in her group and has been extensively fostered with dog friendly cats and kittens. Please note that although she is a doodle, she does shed slightly and is not considered hypoallergenic. STAR is such a dear girl. She would make a wonderful addition to the right family. The most important consideration is a large secure fenced yard and an understanding of sighthounds as she is half Borzoi. STAR is crate trained, leash trained and rides well in the car. She is perfectly behaved at the groomer, being bathed and having her nails and coat trimmed. She also does well at her veterinary appointments. Our adoption process includes an adoption application, an initial visit, a home trial visit before you commit to adopt, an adoption contract with adoption fee, as well as follow-up after placement. STAR'S adoption fee is $650.00. Please note that we are only able to consider adoptive homes with a physical fence attached to the house that reside within a 200 mile radius of Greensboro, North Carolina. Furthermore, a veterinary and groomer reference will be an adoption requirement.
