My Story

Hey there, I'm Steveo, a brave 3-year-old Pitbull with a story to tell. Life hasn't always been kind to me--I was once part of a heartbreaking situation where 23 other dogs and I were stacked on top of each other in a dark basement. The trauma from that time has left its mark, especially when it comes to my interactions with other dogs. Due to what I've been through, I struggle with dominance and possessiveness. But here's the thing: I'm not to blame for how I react. It's a result of the difficult circumstances I endured. Deep down, I have so much potential to become an incredible dog with the right guidance and support. I yearn for a loving home where my past is understood, and my journey to healing is respected. Training, both basic and behavioral, is something I'll need to help me become the best version of myself. Patience and understanding will be key, as I work through the emotional scars I've carried. If you're someone who knows the strength and loyalty that the Pitbull breed offers, and if you're willing to walk alongside me on this journey of recovery--helping me address my aggression, dominance, and possessiveness--then we might be a perfect match. I promise that with the right environment, love, and care, I have the potential to shine. So, if you're ready to make a difference in a dog's life, and you see beyond my past trauma, I'm here, waiting for a chance to show you the amazing dog I can be. I am in a foster home with other dogs currently and doing good with them. I am learning to make friends, but it takes time.An adoption application can be filled out on the DHS website https://www.dekalbhumanesociety.org/adopt. Dog adoption fees are $250.00 for all puppies and adult dogs. Seniors are a donation of choice. Cats and kittens are a free will donation.
