My Story
ADOPTED!
Don't you think I'm the cutest little dog you have ever seen? I only weigh 12 lbs, so I excel at snuggling, and I would make a great lap warmer for someone on these cold winter evenings. I just love people and I hope to be adopted by someone who is retired or who works out of their home (or just part time) so we can spend lots of time together. My previous owner didn't take very good care of me. I developed a skin condition (maybe from having so many fleas) and when my owner brought me to the shelter, the staff was going to put me to sleep because they didn't think anyone would want me. Can you believe that? But now I'm safe in a rescue foster home and my "mom" is treating my skin with medicated baths and a pill once a day. My skin problem should clear up eventually, but--in the meantime--don't worry. It's not contagious, and it doesn't affect my health in any way. (I just have a big "bald" patch on the front of my chest, but...hey! A cute little bandana would pretty much cover it up until the hair grows back.) Anyway, I am six years old, which I think is the perfect age. With good care, little dogs like me live to be 15 or 20 years old, so I'm just in the prime of my life! There are a lot of advantages to adopting a "mature" dog. I'm not a crazy, chewy puppy, I don't require obedience training, I'm already housebroken, and I am not nearly as demanding as a young dog. I am content just to be with the person I love. I get along fine with other dogs and cats, but I would prefer being someone's ONLY dog. I think I should be the light of someone's life and--as an only dog--I'd get ALL the attention and cuddling! I walk very well on a leash, I am very polite, and I don't yap a lot like some little dogs do. In fact, I'd make a great therapy dog. I would love to cheer up people who are ill or elderly and to give them a reason to smile.
Oh, just one more thing though..... My foster mom doesn't want me to be adopted by a family with young children. I like kids, but my mom is worried that I might be accidentally injured by a small child. My adoption fee is $250, and I'm spayed, heartworm negative, up to date on all my immunizations, and I'm microchipped. If you are interested in adopting me, please write a "cover letter" describing your family situation, your lifestyle, and your work schedule so that my foster mom can determine if you would be the right adopter for me, and if I'd be the right dog for you. If she thinks we'd be a good fit for each other, she will then e-mail you an adoption application. Then, after she checks your references and arranges for a pre-adoption home visit, you could take me home in time that we could snuggle up on the sofa while we watch the Olympics on TV. (Maybe we could pop some popcorn too. Wouldn't that be fun?)

We do not operate a humane society or shelter, so we do not have a facility that is open to the public. Our dogs are fostered by volunteers in private homes, and are not available for viewing until an adoption application is filled out and references are checked. Please read the information on our home page (by clicking on our rescue name below this dog's photo) before contacting us.
