My Story

ADOPTED INTO A FABULOUS NEW HOME!!!!!!!

Teddy is a male, 10-year old ChowChow. He is being fostered by SNIPSA in a home in San Antonio. Teddy (formerly named 'Bear') has a poignant rescue story.

After 10 years living on a chain, receiving minimal attention from his "caretakers", Bear finally received the only stroke of good luck he'd ever had ... his owners decided to move ... leaving Bear behind ... abandoning Bear on his chain in the backyard.

A concerned neighbor put out the word to rescue groups that a 10-year old ChowChow had been abandoned on a chain and appeared to have badly infected eyes. The group that "helped" only supplied Bear with a longer chain, a dog house and some medication for his eyes. Word of this situation reached Dogs Deserve Better, who knew that spending one more night on his chain was not an option for Bear!

With permission from the home's new residents, Dogs Deserve Better removed Bear from his chain and took him into fostercare. Since Bear had never had veterinary care in his entire life, Dogs Deserve Better contacted SNIPSA for help. Bear was immediately re-named "Teddy" in order for him to have a completely fresh start in his new life.

Teddy came to his foster home with a filthy, matted coat full of fleas and mud. He had never been inside a house and had never been around people. He was a bit shy and not house-trained. After only a few accidents indoors, Teddy quickly learned that he was now able to go outdoors to potty, and then return indoors to his warm, clean bed. After his life of neglect and abuse, Teddy holds no ill will towards people. Within days of coming to his foster home, Teddy approached people with tail wagging. Teddy was Heartworm-positive and in need of plenty of TLC to physically and emotionally recover from his previous sad life, but he now spends his nights on a soft bed and greets his foster family with a happy wiggle every morning.

Teddy is very gentle with people, terrific with every other dog he's met, but he shows too much interest in cats to be considered cat-safe. SNIPSA has treated Teddy for his heartworms. He has been neutered, he is current on vaccinations and he is microchipped.

Teddy will make a very sweet companion. If you would like to open your heart and home to Teddy, to give him a permanent loving home and give him his second chance in life, please send an e-mail to Becky, [email protected], for more information on Teddy.
