My Story

Meet Teddy, the lovable and unique canine with a heart of gold! 2 years old 65 pounds German shepherd 75% (DNA tested) American Staffordshire/pit mix 25% (DNA tested) Teddy was my foster dog for my local shelter. I quickly fell for his unique and lovable personality and his silly demeanor. However, I am not at a point in my life where I can confidently take on another pet and my dog prefers to be an only child. I really want Teddy to find a good home, he has been through a lot and was days from euthanasia, which is why I rescued him. Pictures do not do him Justice, this is a sweet gentle giant. He has a beautiful reddish coat. He gets along with other dogs. He has a lot of energy but knows when to leave a dog alone. He is still young so I think with time and training he could be a great companion or family dog. He is good off leash as well. He loves fetch and giving hugs. I recommend a home with a fully fenced yard and older kids only. No small animals or children, he is a bit too clumsy. He would prefer to be able to stay home and watch over the home rather than go with you on an adventure. Though Teddy has a bit of anxiety, he will learn to cope with the support of a patient and understanding owner. He gets along well with other dogs and respects the boundaries set by them. However, he may need a little time and guidance to refine his social skills with smaller animals and children, as he can be a bit clumsy in his enthusiasm. Teddy is not an aggressive guy at all, but his cries and barks, stemming from his anxiety, may seem overwhelming to others. Once he feels secure and loved, these traits will improve. He thrives on affection and is happiest when he can lay his head in someone's lap or cuddle up beside them. When it comes to adventure, Teddy is content to stay home and keep a watchful eye over his domain. A fully fenced yard would be a great fit for him, providing a safe space for play and relaxation. He may be a bit jumpy and mouthy during playtime, but it's all in good spirits, as he has never intentionally caused harm. Teddy's leash skills are a work in progress, and he may get excited and pull, but he's getting better with each walk. He can also sleep in a crate at night or during the day, but he might initially bark and cry for a short while before settling down. In summary, Teddy is a big-hearted, affectionate, and playful pooch looking for a loving forever home. He needs someone who can help him navigate his anxieties and continue his training. Teddy's story of resilience and Monica's dedication have shaped him into a delightful companion, ready to bring joy and love to the right family.
