My Story

sweet older gent seeking happily ever after! TOBY NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!! Come meet Toby and other great adoptable dogs this Sunday (Aug. 4th) from 12-3 pm at the Petsmart in Alexandria (3351 Richmond Hwy, Alexandria, VA 22305)! Name: Toby Best Guess for Breed: Havanese Best Guess for Age: 8 years as of July 2024 SEX: Male Approximate Weight: 15 lbs Gets Along With: Toby has lived with dogs and cats. He likes calm dogs. He has lived with kids of all ages and would be best with calm older teens; see below for more. Currently Living at: DC area home All about Toby: Toby was adopted in July of 2016 and was in a wonderful, loving home for a long time. His humans gave him everything - love, proper preventatives and medical care, the regular brushing and professional grooming that the Havanese coat needs. As he has gotten older, and the family has gotten bigger - with younger children coming along - Toby has been increasingly unhappy. Small breed dogs can be nervous around young children with their loud noises, high voices, and unpredictable movements, and Toby is very small. His family worked hard to help Toby feel comfortable; they wanted the very best for him, for him to be happy and relaxed at home. They ultimately accepted that Toby does not want to be in a home full of happy loud noises of young children and made the very difficult decision to help him find the calmer and quieter home he has been asking for. Toby is a very loving, very mellow little guy. He's a social dog who loves to cuddle with his adult humans. His previous humans describe him as medium energy - he's good with daily walks and enjoys hikes as well. He's great in the crate - he loves his safe spot and sleeps in it at night! He has lived with cats and simply left them alone. He's fine with teens in the home. He's very food motivated; treats are great for bonding with and training Toby. Small dogs can live a long time. Toby has so much love to give - his heart is all for his humans. Will you be the lucky recipient? Are you the soft landing Toby is seeking? Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. All of our dogs are working on their crate training. TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter.
