My Story

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Tootsie! Tootsie was found as a stray and ended up in a shelter in Texas. She has quickly adapted to the comforts of a loving foster home. She's a playful puppy who loves plush, squeaky toys, and a good game of tug-of-war. Tootsie is a happy girl, always curious and excited to explore outside (never alone, of course). Tootsie is a great little pup with excellent kennel habits-she has never soiled her kennel and is getting the hang of pee pads and learning to use the grass. She's affectionate and food-motivated, making her easy to train. She already sits for treats! Being a puppy, Tootsie can get a little nippy when she's excited, which might be a bit much for very young children. This is typical puppy behavior and with regular and consistent redirection she will learn to play other ways. She loves the company of other dogs and is learning a lot from the older dogs in her foster home. Tootsie had a rough start, coming to the shelter with flea bites, missing fur patches, and being quite thin. But she's bounced back wonderfully and is now a happy, healthy pup. She play-barks but hasn't shown any tendencies to bark at anything else. Tootsie would thrive in a home with another playful dog! She enjoys sticks, loves her naps, and is always up early to start her day with potty, playtime, and some breakfast. Tootsie is ready to bring lots of joy and love to her forever home. Tootsie is from Texas. They arrive in Minnesota on 08/10/2024 and will need to be picked up from the Ruff Start Rescue office in Princeton, MN between the hours of 4:30 and 8pm. Please plan for their arrival accordingly as we cannot accommodate pickups outside of this time frame. Since they haven't arrived yet, they are available exclusively through Ruff Start's Foster to Adopt (FTA) Program. Click here to learn more about the FTA program. Once they get to Minnesota, they might require further veterinary care. Ruff Start's veterinary suite is located in Princeton, MN, and, as the foster, you will be required to transport your dog to and from these vetting appointments. If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract. To learn more about Ruff Start's adoption process and the care our foster animals receive, please visit our How to Adopt page. *Rescue puppies are notorious for losing their birth certificates before entering our rescue. We cannot guarantee the breed or size they will be full grown.* If you are unable to adopt but want to help this animal and others in our care, you can donate to support the medical and veterinary needs of all Ruff Start Rescue animals.
