My Story

Scruffy-faced certified lap warmer Tucker is a silly, lovable goofball who loves to be told what a good boy he is. If he hears you coming, he will roll over to make a belly rub more accessible. Tucker likes to go for short walks most days, but he doesn’t require a lot of exercise and tires easily. He prefers to be snuggling with you most of the time. While I am working, he curls up under my desk and sleeps most of the day away. He does like to let me know when there is someone nearby so shared walls are not recommended. He loves to be outside when the weather is nice and can often be found sunbathing on the deck during the summer. During the winter, he loves to run around in the snow. But then he’s happy to come inside and snuggle again. In the morning, he will stay in bed until you get him up. He "grumbles" by the door when he needs to go out. Tucker is very food motivated and remembers his manners much better when there’s a reward. He knows sit, stay, lie down, and leave it. He could easily be taught over things with some tasty treats and a little patience. I've started crate training for short periods and he seems to enjoy being in there. His DNA says he is part Chihuahua and part beagle. You will see the beagle in him when he howls along with the tornado sirens or a firetruck. He doesn’t have any toys he particularly likes but likes Himalayan cheese sticks and other chews and likes to play tug of war. He also likes licking mats with peanut butter or soft food. He does have some history with food aggression (with other dogs) so he needs to be an only pet. He would do well in a family with either older respectable children or adults. A quiet home where someone is home a lot without a lot of visitors or different people coming in would be best. We have found that the thunder shirt has helped him with some of his anxiety around storms and fireworks. Tucker has lots of love to share and is waiting for his next belly rub. If you let him give you kisses, you’ll have a best friend for life This animal is a Courtesy Listing.
