My Story

Tucker! Meet Tucker….he is a 2 year old rat terrier who weighs 16 pounds. Tucker was a broken soul and scared of everything when he came into the rescue. Tucker didn’t trust anyone and showed signs of abuse. The little guy had been running the streets for months and, honestly, we have no idea how he survived crossing busy streets like he did. Tucker had to be trapped and it took a lot of time and patience for him to open up in his foster home. He would sit in the corner and tremble in fear and, when picked up, his body would stiffen, afraid of what might happen. Today, Tucker is doing well after only 3 months with his foster family. He loves to play with other dogs, play with toys, follow you around the house, roll around on his back, steal your blanket, watch movies, chase frogs, sun bathe and go for walks. He sleeps in his kennel at night or on a dog bed. He has come such a long way in such a short amount of time. He will need a home with patience for him to reach his full potential. He is treat motivated and will do well in a home that doesn’t force themselves on him. He will need to feel comfortable at his own pace and not be pushed. He needs another dog to play with since this is his most enjoyable activity in his foster home. We will have to say no young children because of his past and he startles easily. He needs a secure backyard for potty breaks and a home that will watch the front doors. He has snuck past his foster family twice to take himself for a walk. It takes some time and his favorite dog in the foster home to coax him back home. He needs a home that will be diligent about the doors until he learns to trust. Tucker is a great dog if you are willing to give him time and patience to settle in. Tucker adores his foster mom and cries at the door when she leaves the house. He seems to prefer woman over men but can live with men just fine. With a little time, he will bond whole heartily. Tucker deserves a second chance in life and if you feel you can give this to him, please complete the application below. https://form.jotform.com/CLMR/TXAdoptApp
