Wallace is a 2.5 year old Welsh Terrier. He is light tan. His coat is short, coarse, curly and he is low shedding. Wallace is full grown at about 28 pounds. He has a medium build. Wallace is engaging, eager to please, affectionate and playful.
Wallace is housebroken. He is in a foster home with another dog and they do fine together. When their foster mom leaves, she leaves them loose in the house and they've never had accidents or been destructive.
Wallace is VERY lovable and playful, but when it's quiet time, he's happy to go lay down on his favorite bed. He's not super bouncy or hyper like so many terriers. When the other dog in his foster home doesn't feel like playing, Wallace leaves him alone, he doesn't pester him.
Wallace doesn't bark in the house unless the doorbell rings; and outside he'll sit peacefully on the deck to watch the woodland critters in the Green Zone behind his foster home. and he'll sit at the front fence and watch the activities in the cull-du-sac, and only barks if he sees a cat or dog walking by - and his barks are loud!
Wallace is affectionate and friendly with all of the people in his foster home. He likes to get attention. He especially likes the children in his foster home (ages 9 and 11). Wallace really loves the children and their friends. He likes to play ball wihth them. At the PetSmart events, Wallace really seems drawn to children.
Wallace LOVES balls - tennis balls, soccer balls, anything round! Sometimes he brings the ball back and drops it at your feet, sometimes he wants you to chase him!
Wallace knows "sit" and is treat motivated.
Wallace doesn't appear to have any health problems.
Wallace is not destructive - he doesn't chew on shoes or other inappropriate things. Just on puppy toys.
Wallace would love a home where he is doted on and has all of the attention. He would do OK as an only dog or with another dog in his home. He will need regular exercise and some opportunities for playtime. He would do fine with school-age children.
Adoption Process: We are not first come first served. Indigo Rescue focuses on finding good matches between dogs and families to ensure life long adoptions. We deliver all dogs to their new homes.
We have adoption events at the Beaverton PetSmart every other Saturday where you can meet many of our dogs at once. Or, if you're interested in a particular dog, you can e-mail us with answers to the questions below. If the dog seems compatible with your situation we'll set up a time for you to meet the dog.
Do you have other pets now? (briefly describe)
Have you had pets in the past? What became of them?
What kind of exercise will you provide for the dog? (type/frequency)
What is your schedule like? How long/often will the dog be alone?
Where will the dog be while you're gone? Where will the dog be when you're home? Where will the dog sleep?
Who else lives in the home? Do you have children? How old are the children?
How much are you planning to adjust your monthly budget for the new pet? Are you financially able to handle vet bills for an unexpected illness or injury?
Are you in a home or apartment? How long have you lived there? Do you have a fully, securely fenced yard? (type/height)
Do you own or rent your home? If renting, what is the pet policy? (number/weight/fees)
What changes in your life are likely in the next 10+ years (or life span of the dog) and how will the changes affect the dog? (moving, job or schedule change, school, having children)
Anything else you'd like us to consider in finding the right dog for your family?
Thank you for your interest in adopting and saving a life!
